Main Objective:
The Production Manager is responsible for managing a variety of operations including some textile manufacturing processes, along with clean room manufacturing & assembly operations of medical devices.  This position requires an assertive problem solver who is a change agent and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.  This position requires someone able develop teams to implement change in a rapidly growing organization. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Effectively manage daily production needs to ensure we are meeting the customer needs
  • Coordinates production activities with other functional groups such as Quality Control, Planning, and Sterilization.
  • Complete periodic capacity reviews to ensure manpower levels are right-sized for future demand needs
  • Foster an environment and culture where we provide mentoring and coaching to develop our teams to meet the future requirements of a growing business
  • Hold all employees accountable for all company Policies and Practices.  Ensuring we effectively manage all aspects of employee performance management including periodic performance feedback, formal performance reviews and handles disciplinary actions.  
  • Enforce the Quality System requirements to ensure each and every part is produced in accordance with our work instruction, people are trained to the appropriate procedures and that GMP is always followed.  Champions an active approach to part control ensuring we have good segregation between jobs at all time and traceability around all part movement.
  • Provide support for the management and resolution of non-conformances generated by the process, ensuring we take adequate action to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Establish and maintain a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing with emphasis on right-first-time operations
  • Develop strategies in partnership with Engineering and Quality groups to identify opportunities to improve Quality / Cost / Delivery of the devices to the customer, by improving the process, identifying capital plans that may bridge a current gap or reduce variation.
  • Accountable for managing, meeting, and reporting Key Performance Indicators (metrics) for production.
  • To ensure that production documentation (SOP’s, BOM’s etc.) are maintained up to date and provide an accurate description of the working operations.
  • Verify that WO’s have been made in accordance with current SOP’s, and are periodically reviewed for accuracy
  • Set and agree on operating budgets for the departments controlled.
  • Participate in the plant safety activities and to ensure that an active safety program is in place for the department. 
     
    Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Business, Operations Management, Industrial Technology or another relevant field.
  • At least three years of production management experience required.
  • Experience in a high-volume medical device manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and its implementation required.
  • Experience with SAP or similar software preferred. 
    Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
  • Ability to read and understand Bills of Material (BOMs), Routers, Work Instructions in written or graphical form.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from subordinates, peers, and upper management.
  • Strong strategic leadership and decision making skills needed.
  • Ability to do effective production planning regarding manpower requirements to ensure that work orders are done on time.
  • Understanding of effective and efficient methods of storing and managing inventory.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines & production demands in a complex and dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to analyze production data/reports to assess the impact on throughput, efficiencies, and other KPIs.
  • Working knowledge of CAPA process.
  • Working knowledge of Lean/Visual Mgmt.
  • Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Able to manage diversity.
  • The ability to build teamwork and maintain excellent communication across all shifts and with other areas of the factory is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft computer applications and ERP systems 
    Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
  • Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, Viso, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • MES/ERP System (QAD, Oracle, SAP, etc.)
